I will be demonstrating both visual and tactile texture techniques for watercolor that I use in my paintings. They involve using brushwork, tools, textural paints, and added materials. I tend to paint in a detailed, realistic style and usually put an animal somewhere in my paintings
Pamela Barcita, NMWS, is a painter, an illustrator, and art teacher who recently moved back to New Mexico after many years living overseas and in other states - most recently, Virginia. Currently she teaches watercolor and pastel painting for the New Mexico Art League in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She taught for Tidewater Community College in Norfolk, VA - both in the classroom and online from 1986 to 2025. Her classes have included Two Dimensional Design, Illustration, Art Appreciation, General Art, Drawing and Watercolor Painting. She also taught workshops in Virginia for the Virginia Beach Art Center, Portsmouth Public Libraries and the City of Chesapeake’s 55 and Better Program. Pamela is the illustrator of over 25 children’s books. Some of her most popular books are in series: Ruby Lee the Bumble Bee, Charles the Lion Dog, and Boots The Cat. The Ruby Lee the Bumble Bee series has won the Benjamin Franklin and Mom’s Choice awards for Children’s Books. Another Mom’s Choice award winning book (and Pamela’s favorite) is called A Walk With Grandpa. The book illustrations were created in different appropriate media for each book – pen & ink, watercolor, pastel, acrylic and mixed media
