In this virtual class, we will explore painting a variety of rocks and grasses as elements of foreground details, or as the center of interest in your landscape painting.
We will learn to think of shapes instead of rocks, textures instead of grasses, and we will use light and dark values to showcase these landscape elements.
I will be painting wet-on-wet, as well as wet-on-dry, using a variety of brushstrokes, including some negative painting. You are encouraged to paint along with me. You can also choose to watch only and then paint later.
This class is for artists interested in painting landscapes, who are comfortable with a variety of brushstrokes, and know their paints and papers.
Loisanne’s landscape paintings can be viewed at www.LoisanneKeller.com
Download artist bio and materials list. Rock sketch will be sent to partipants after registration.

”Chaos to Order: Watermedia Workshop"
Create Dynamic Art!
Starting a painting with color, texture, gestural marks and layers may seem like “chaos”, but it delivers vital energy that is not only fun and intuitive but necessary. Great design and composition are the elements that bring “order” to a rich start and turn it into an attention-getting and expressive finished painting. Beginner or advanced – you are encouraged to discover and explore your unique expression and personal imagery in realism, abstraction or non-objective. Demonstrations, a 9 page syllabus, plus additional handouts, discussions (via Zoom) and independent work time will enable understanding and application of new information and processes. Specific lessons on texture building, color concepts, layering, how to do a value study, understanding design principles and elements, and more will be presented. “Most of all,” Kathleen says, “through my teaching, I want to help each artist advance to the next level in their work – no matter where they start.” Bring your sense of adventure and enthusiasm for this high-energy, fully packed workshop. An introduction to Kathleen’s teaching is included in a three part You Tube video in “Workshops” on her web site: KathleenConover.com.
