Guest Presenter: KENT SWANSON,

BERNALILLO COUNTY PUBLIC ART PROJECT COORDINATOR

Kent Swanson holds a master’s degree in Community and Regional Planning from UNM and a Bachelor’s in Studio Art from Occidental College, in Los Angeles, California. Swanson served as a Municipal Development Volunteer in Peace Corps Honduras from 2002-2004. He has worked both in New Mexico and internationally on projects ranging from community planning and natural resources conservation, to supporting and promoting the visual arts and artists of all ages.  Kent is a father, a son, and an artist working in the medium of printmaking and in the book arts. Prior to coming to Bernalillo County, Kent worked at the City of Albuquerque as a Planner and then as the Manager of the City of Albuquerque Open Space Visitor Center (OSVC), where he expanded the OSVC’s art gallery offerings and arts and culture programming and helped foster an environmentally themed sculpture garden at the site with ArtPark21. He has worked as the Bernalillo County Public Art Project Coordinator since 2020.
