“Capturing Vibrant Color and Light Effects in Watercolor“

Soon Y. Warren Watercolor Workshop

Join us as Soon leads us through her process and painting techniques to create vibrant watercolors. Soon is a full-time artist, teacher, and workshop instructor working both nationally and internationally. Learn about her techniques to layer controlled glazes and direct painting to capture realist detail in her painting. Enjoy letting the watercolor do the work of mingling pure colors on the surface for vibrant shadows that focus a composition.

Soon is a signature member of National Watercolor Society (NWS), American Watercolor Society (AWS), Southern Watercolor Artist (SW), Texas Watercolor Society, Purple Sage Brush (TWS), Transparent Watercolor Society (TWSA) and more.

Each day, there will be a painting demonstration and then time to have workshop participants do their own painting to fully understand Soon’s process. Participants will be able to concentrate on learning the techniques as well as see how the concepts of color theory, composition, and color values are executed on a painting. While painting workshop participants will learn:

• Glazing and washing techniques to create a luminous underpainting. • How to utilize light and dark values to capture the sparkle of glass.   • How to approach a painting.
• How to incorporate color theory and color relationships into a painting.

Workshop includes discussion periods and critique sessions.

In addition to the group exercise, participants are encouraged to bring current pieces to paint along with reference photos. To make the most of instructional time, prepare the drawing before the workshop.
