We in the Southern Chapter are continually learning and growing in our art. Exhibitions are major activities that move us toward our goal of encouraging members in that journey. The NMWS Southern Chapter offers three to four exhibitions per year - the Fall Show, the NMWS-SC For the Love of Art Show in February, and the May Deming Invitational may or may not be themed, and are usually juried only for proper framing/space. The show in the spring is both juried and judged. See Past Shows below for the winners from previous Spring Shows.
The NMWS Southern Chapter 2010 Fall Membership Show will open Friday, December 17, 2010 (sounds like a winter show, doesn’t it?) and will continue through Monday, April 3, 2011. Member artists may submit one, two, or three paintings for one $10 entry fee. This show will be juried by museum personnel and there will be one Viewer’s Choice Award.
The theme of the show, “Vintage Views of Rural Women”, centers on the lives of rural women at the turn of the nineteenth century. Topics encompassed in the concept include daily life, tools, possessions, pastimes and the surroundings of women during this period of New Mexico’s history.
