In Austin Texas I took workshops and classes with instructors such as Gordon Fowler, Dee Phillips, Beryl Kerwick, Judy Taylor, Sue Kemp, Joyce Kamikura and Carl Dalio which helped me begin to gain skills with this exciting and challenging medium. More recent studies in Albuquerque with Gale Waddell, Nancy Eberhart and Laurie Johnson have helped me increase my skill and confidence in using the medium.
I am a member of New Mexico Watercolor Society and was previously a member of Waterloo Watercolor Group (Austin, TX) and the San Antonio (TX) Watercolor Group. I have had several paintings accepted for NMWS exhibits and served as the group’s webmaster from 2003-2007.
I achieved Signature status in NMWS in November 2006. My painting “Fast Lane: Nemesis” was awarded the Canson Arches Award in the NMWS Fall 06 exhibition. It was also accepted into the Western Federation of Watercolor Societies Summer of Watercolor Exhibit 2007 and it was the first painting sold at that exhibit. In 2005 I was selected as the poster artist for the New Mexico Wine Festival at Bernalillo. The painting “Grape Taste II” received a cash award as well as being featured on T-shirts and other Wine Festival merchandise. My paintings reside in collections in San Francisco, Hartford, Santa Fe, Austin, Denver, Birmingham and Albuquerque.
